Hello all.

My 2019 Big Horn (20" wheels) came with nitrogen fill in the tires. Do you think it's worth keeping them nitro filled or just topping off with air as needed?

I've used it in my track cars where it's more important, but if you have it readily available I would use it. I get it free through my RAM dealer.

My dealer does it for free, but rapid temp changes in VA fluctuating my tire pressure, I opt to maintain them with regular air on my own. It's just easier for me that way.

The point of Nitrogen is that it does NOT fluctuate with tire temp. If yours is then they aren't purging the tire correctly before adding the nitrogen.

That’s what I thought too but I found myself dropping from 40lbs down to 34lbs. I got tired of waiting to take the truck in to add air, so I took it upon myself to just keep up with it on my own.

Normal air that we breath is line 75% nitrogen and in order to be a true nitrogen fill the tires would have to be purged of all air before being filled. For race cars this might be fine and probably is but for the normal street vehicle it's all show and no go.

A Ford dealer in Orlando used to do nitrogen fills for free, regardless of the brand car or truck. A porter would pull it up to the machine, hook up the air lines and let it do its thing. Takes about 15 minutes if I remember.
I've got an air compressor for putzing around the garage so I use that to air up the tires. Got 4 vehicles to keep the tires up on.

Exactly what I suspected. Another Rip of by the dealers...

Depends on the dealer. Nitrogen fill does have some value, so if it's free, or even a couple of bucks, why not. Something like this, though...

Hell, you could get free air and a year membership in AAA alot cheaper than that.

Air is 80% nitrogen soooo ... the other 20% might be important on aircraft or racers, but on the street ... doubtful.
