no brakes/ no spidometer

im looking to buy an 98 cummins 2500 and the spidomiter suposedly went out on it and i was just wondering what size the fuse for that would be? also the rear brake lines are shot would that be an easy/ fast fix?

Not a fuse - prolly needs a VSS. Not sure if its the same on a cummins but on a 1500 it screws into the rear diff - it also acts as your ABS sensor as well.

As far as running the brake line it depends - if you are familiar with running lines and bleeding brakes its no problem. If your not you could run into problems with anything from having all the lines need replaced to seized up bleeders.

Hows the condition on the underside of the truck? Rust? or just one line gone?

The speedo and no brakes might be related. If the abs controller is bad the speedo will stop working.
