My Dodge has noise , that sounds like mud tires, starting at 30 mph and stops about 40 mph and then starts again at 70 but stops very quickly. The dodge dealer said my front wheel bearings were bad so they were replaced. I then replaced the tranny and I also just had the rear end re-built .
After all this noise is still there.
2007 ram 1500 quad cab 5.7 hemi 2 WD . Just hit 60k miles.
Any help would be appreciated , thanks.

How do the tires look? Do they have any feathering on the edges on the front tires?

No , they are all wearing just fine. I rotated them yesterday . did not affect the noise at all.
I have no idea what to do next , I have changed front wheel bearings, tranny, rear end was rebuilt. I have taken it to 2 dodge dealers and they have no idea what it could be.

Does the noise change if you're turning vs. going straight?

no, the noise keeps on going from 30 to 40 mph turning and straight. The noise seems to vary in pitch from 30 you hear whistle or humm and when you hit 40 sounds like high pitch metal on metal or bearing with no grease sound. The fun starts at 75 mph for a brief time the noise is extremely loud like metal on metal then stops as quick as it started.

It's hard to trust anyone, so I'd do these checks myself. The noise described sounds very much like a front wheel bearing and I've had the passenger side go out back to back using SKF high end bearings. Jack her up remove the front wheel and spin the hub, if not butter smooth then remove the brakes and spin some more. If bad you usually see grease coming from it, it's bad. Next check, drop the drive shaft and check the U joints. If there is rusty color dust on them, stiff or rough then they are bad. Next check, remove the rear end cover and inspect the oil for flakes, magnet in the bottom of the housing, If fuzzy, it's ok. If it has pieces attached then locate its source. Broken clutch clips can cause a lot of damage. Check axle bearings /seals for leaks. With the axles out you can see the bearings. Good luck...
