Time to get some real feedback on these 2 which are both OBX brand.

Gotta be some members who have bought and installed them. Seriously considering getting these myself, but hard to get accurate info from vendors.

The most interesting being the ones listed with 1.5" primary's. Would be great if someone could confirm that this is accurate as well as other info like primary length ect and how install went. :)

Kind of surprised that no one on here is running these? Although, I haven't pulled the trigger yet, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised others haven't either! lol

Since I started this thread and some changes have recently come to light I figured I'd at least use it to keep 3rd gen owners up to date.

I've been in contact with several of the header manufacturers over the past year or so for the 3rd gens and now more recently for the 4th gens as well. Hoping to exact some changes (improvements!) in the available products, as well as add some more products (headers and mid pipes) that are more Efficient in terms of running on a stock or mildly modded 5.7 Hemi.

Now, being that the 3rg gens are getting on in age, and that many A/M Co's don't even support them any more, what are the chances anyone is going to listen or make any changes at this Late hour!?

You Just never know what's going to come of good communication and outside critique of a product, because it really has to do with the integrity of the Co. (usually more driven by the mighty $)

So this Really surprised me! I've been watching a slew of header options for our 3rd gens, and one of them is the OBX/ Maximizer brand. They seem to have the most options in primary tube sizes and offer quite a few products including 2 1/2" midpipes which is as large as you'd ever want to go unless Race truck! (almost all other pipes are 3" now!!!)

One of the biggest issues I had was that the header flange (like many others) was round port and did not match our 5.7 square ports. (this can cause all sorts of issues depending on haw bad the miss match is)

In considering purchasing a set of these, I was thinking I would have to have at least another 3/8 adaptor flange to match the 2 ports which is doable IF there's room, but a PITA vs just make it right in the first place.

Well, to my complete surprise, OBX/ Maximizer have finally Corrected the flange issue and the new square port flange actually looks pretty crazy. Way Beefier so should be Great for sealing against head which many know can be an issue with headers.

Cpl pic to show old vs new.

I should also mention that the accuracy of the measurements and specs they are giving now seems much improved over the past, where I was checking part #'s and specs didn't even match product!

The new flange headers are only available in 1 3/4" primarys right now. I've contacted OBX to confirm that the other sizes they offered will soon become available + asked about one other correction they might make :)

Price? These look like quality pieces.

This is the best I've seen on the 04 (pretty sure 04-05 are the same?) 4 02 system.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Maximizer-Square-Port-Steel-Header-For-2004-2006-Dodge-Ram-2500-4WD-HEMI-5-7L-V8/183620968911?_trkparms=aid=111001&algo=REC.SEED&ao=1&asc=20160727114228&meid=5fedc3b4329b4644ab9bc09768c97e8e&pid=100290&rk=4&rkt=4&sd=172285170456&itm=183620968911&_trksid=p2060778.c100290.m3507

So 650.00 USD shipped. I emailed OBX asking about the merge on the 2 1/2" mid pipe which seems to remain 2 1/2". Told them it would be nice if they changed that and made the merge full 3" to remove any restriction!

They also list this system for 03-04 4WD

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Maximizer-Square-Port-Header-For-2003-2004-Dodge-Ram-1500-Truck-HEMI-4WD-5-7L/173723539583?_trkparms=aid=111001&algo=REC.SEED&ao=1&asc=20160727114228&meid=bc07a9740d6549ae94881548ef361e24&pid=100290&rk=3&rkt=4&sd=183620968911&itm=173723539583&_trksid=p2060778.c100290.m3507

Same deal, but it's the Single 02 system. Looking at Mopar catalog, I always thought this was the 2WD exhaust, being single 02 but is it 03 and early 04?

Notice how this one Has a full 3" pipe at the dual 2 1/2" merge! (I brought this to their attention when asking about upgrading the other merge to 3")

Now, these are both 1 3/4" primary tubing headers, But, with 2 1/2" midpipe and 2 1/2" collectors, you would still have better low end Tork than a 3" system. 304 SS construction!

Wish they made them for 4th gens

Happy to Grant that Wish! lol

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Maximizer-...=item36422f0ab6:g:INYAAOSw1tJcCvwe:rk:11:pf:0

Although these are 1 7/8 with 3" Y-pipe. Obviously copying the rest of the market trend :(

I have emailed OBX in an attempt to get these made in 1 5/8" primary tubes with 2 1/2" Y-pipe for the stock or mildly modded 4th gens that DD and tow with their trucks and want to retain Maximum low end Tork while gaining performance and power, as well as fuel efficiency. :)
