Wish I could help, dunno, dealer did mine. Somebody who did this and has more knowledge needs to chime in. Most of the harnesses contain extra wiring for other options not installed, that I can tell U, but not helps your issue.

I do plan on taking it to the dealer to flash the computer and set it up by VIN into Stellantis system.

The replies to this thread stopped notifying me in my email mailbox, as a result I haven't been checking the replies, so I'm a little behind now.

It's funny you mention driving a Rambler. I've owned them before. Mine was a slightly different model than what you've shown.
Not to get off topic, but NICE S/C Rambler!

OK...
One last question for now (I think)?

After the Trailer brake controller installation, my dash background is different.

I tried going into the settings, but cannot seem to get the blue background it had?

What am I doing wrong?

See pics.

Thank you...

Hey everyone...

I just wanted to followup here, to let you know that I did purchase and install the OEM trailer brake controller aboutva week ago.

The installation was fairly straight forward. I will admit it took me longer than anticipated (3 hours) but that was mostly because I used kid gloves when disassembling as not to damage anything. Some of the harness connections were tough to disconnect as I wasn't familiar with them.

As advised here, I took it to a dealer (happened to be the selling dealer), so they could activate and register it. They did, and it appears it's working. I won't know for sure whether it is or not until I hook the trailer up however, I'm confident it will work out fine.

Thanks for all the help !

Some pictures attached of the installation.

Did U figure it out? Are U talking about the EVIC/Dash display or the 8.4 display? Is it only when U bring up trailer window screen or all the time?

Somebody who has U Con 5 though will need the above info to help you. I have a 2019 U Con 4, not the same as that new finicky U Con 5. But there should be background controls somewhere in the U Con 5 settings. The pic U got with the glaring "white" color is not viewable but then is the other pic. U would need to zoom in on the problem instead of far away shot. Somebody out there with U Con 5 should be able to help.

THIS is all I got on U Con 4 basic radio:

I have not yet, been able to get the blue background to return. When I was at the dealer getting the trailer brake controller activated, the service guy thought it might be a night time background only. I haven't driven it at night since so I cannot confirm whether it is or not?

Great pics and glad the install and programming went well.

I went with the trailer group in mine - brake controller, trailer steering and trailer tire TPMS sensors. The brake controller works very well.

ARE U talking the 8.4 display??? I have never seen a nightly setup because the pics U posted show 14:08 hrs, not night time unless U in the Artic Circle, lol, but I got a lowly Bighorn with pain jane radio. Somebody reading with U Con 5 gonna have to chime in.

I think the 8.5 inch display had it too, but for sure the background of the middle speedo display did.

The theme is the screen background. When I pick a different theme and wait a few seconds, the new theme background shows. While I was setting all my settings the first time, I had to reset or reload the Uconnect system a couple times, since it started acting incorrectly. To do this push and hold the radio volume button until it shutsdown. Maybe 15 seconds max. Or, I sometimes had to just wait overnight and one or two normal start cycles. Mine now works perfect.

This is for U Con 4:

U can report back to the thread/forum, no need to report to me, lol. I posted all that I found. Think it is either in the theme area or may require a dealer visit ref possibly reflash part of system, dunno, since I do have have U Con 5. U can also delve deep into manual for U Con 5 and maybe something there as U Con 5 is an upgrade and U have a lot of options/functions which I do not have.

OE is the way to go on a half ton. I have found that aftermarket Tekonsha is better on HD trucks if pulling tri axle trailers. OE doesn’t put out enough power to properly operate 6 brakes
