Yikes. The thought of that has always kept me away from installing them on my previous or current truck. They do look nice when they are installed however.

while it looks scary, the area cleaned up perfect and you can't tell they were ever there. and yes I thought it looked great with the oem fender flares

I was considering some for my ‘17 Express but I don’t want to encourage any corrosion problems. This is my first Ram and what scares me is the number of pickup boxes I see rusting in the wheelwells. I’m talking 2014 trucks you can stick your fingers in the holes. My 2004 F-350 I sold a few months ago didn’t have a speck of rust anywhere. I think FCA is sourcing the box metal from the lowest bidder.

I ran a bead of black RTV on the underside for both the liner and flare, that actually doesn't look too bad depending on location and mileage/time.

OP- removing them for good? Or just had them off to clean? Doesn't look anywhere near as bad as whats under the pocket style flares!

If you're worried about corrosion pop out the tail lights and shoot some Krown or similar type of corrosion inhibitor into the bedside. With the light out you can spray all the way to the front bulkhead of the bed above the wheel wells. It'll drip into all the nooks and crannies and sonce it's not exposed to direct water spray from the wheels should not rinse off. I'll be doin it once a month all summer to get a nice thick layer up inside there. The 3m tape is a pain to remove but saves the paint from damage so as long as you don't get rust starting from the inside of the bed you'll be hard pressed to have them rot from the outside in. If water can get in it can evaporate as well. Not necessarily quickly, but it won't be wet behind there forever.
