I went with a BORLA 40349 ProXS. It's a little louder than stock, but virtually no drone. As far as performance gains, it's probably about the same. Would have to go true dual for that.

My Charger came with a single. I upgraded to a true dual and what it does is shift the power band. The launches are quicker, but top end gains are fairly minimal. I'd do it all over again though.

I have a small cam, and I had to switch to the stock muffler, and I am sure I noticed a difference from the Mufflex 24" that I took off. I feel like its most noticeable under light throttle, like the engine is not as lively. I miss the days when my 1969 F100 302 would blow exhaust rings out 3-4 feet from the truck during the winter.
I still need to put a new muffler on the Ram, but it's so hard to choose. I had been thinking of the Borla pro xs or Dynomax Ultra flo 6" round with a y-pipe. I have read about some folks having drone with the Pro xs.

You should also mention the fact your Charger had to have been an early V6 model,as the V8's all came with dual exhaust, that in the earlier cars was 2.25" except the 6.1 cars which had a 2.5" system, and then in 2018 the 5.7's got the bigger 2.75" system, that matches what the 6.4 cars had .
A big single system in the 3.5" range will make more power then a 2.25" or 2.5" dual system will. A big single system, built with all mandrel piping has better cylinder scavenging

Yup. Single 2.25 to an RT exhaust that was dual 2.5. Also helps with CAI and Predator tuner.

No doubt .

But still curious about Muffler Alone , with the rest stock .

Are the Manifolds & Y Pipe the primary Limiting Factor ? Sufficiently so that muffler is then negligible, unless the " before " really sucks ?

Or are mufflers a significant factor still , despite the OEM manifolds , Pipes, and cats ?

You will NOT gain power from a muffler swap. possibly 5 hp at most if your lucky and you will never feel it. Muffler swap is more for sound than anything.

OK . If you're going for simple & inexpensive , with a " small , straight thru muffler w/ built in split for dual outlet " , dors the above really do anything significantly different from this ?

That will not last. Don't waste money on aluminized steel. It will rot out. At a minimum you want 409 stainless steel, if not 304 stainless steel.
