Hey guys I picked up what I believe to be a set of oval OEM nerf bars for my 2006 this week. Im having issues mounting them. Hopefully I'm just overlooking something easy. Heres a few pictures of what he gave me. Can somebody help? I believe that the oval pieces should sit inside the body holes.... but how do you keep them from spinning so you can tighten the brackets down?

The way to keep them spinning is to pull on the bolts while you finger tighten them after sticking the oval nuts into the holes. Now once they are finger tight you will need to keep slight pressure on the bolt when you go to use a wrench to finish the job. Make sure to get them real tight, also the oval pieces should be slightly curved. Install them so the curve points to the head of the bolt. When tight the curve flattens out a bit and keeps the whole thing tight.

No problem. I installed mine myself (did not want to pay the stealership to do it), and it is actually rather easy. Just to save some frustration take the brackets off the bars after you have found the correct holes to use and install the brackets first, then mount the bars to the brackets. Doing it that way makes it much easier to get everything lined up.

Also while the brackets are off the bars you might want to clean tem up a bit and repaint them. It is better to do that while they are off than try to do it later.

Ya I took the brackets off today and think I'll hit them with some paint. The guy didn't give me enough of the oval pieces, any chance I can find more?
