I have some stone chips I want to fix so I thought about painting the bottom strip on my truck. Can that be done on your own without professional painting equipment? A rattle can? I mean, I don't want it to look cheapened out and worse but I'm not taking it to a shop either.

Or does anyone have any suggestions to fix and stop further rust from the stone chips. And a link to OEM touch up paint?

How old is the paint? It fades pretty quickly and an oem touch up may seem quite a bit different. Check automotive paint supplies via google to your location. A basic shop can sell you real paint and put it in aerosol cans. You will need to get the correct clear for the base as it will be two part system. This is real paint- not the stuff at the local auto part stores. It will still be darker usually. A really good shop can match it if you bring in your gas door or something. But guys that can do that are disappearing.

Chips on the front or rocker?

Usually time to get creative and do a two tone or something to hide the repair if your not wanting to go body$hop.

If it’s an older truck the clear is probably about to fall off so it might be time to think big picture and long term value/needs.

There are a few other similar distributors online that sell spay can touch up. It can be done just take your time. The prep work is more important than actually painting

i've had good luck with touchupdirect.com as well. used them for my motorbikes ranging from 9 yr old orange/red and black to a 2016 bike in another red but a bit of orange in it too, when you looked at it against a fire engine red. they got it bang on for both bikes.

The truck is a 2014 with a 110k miles and just a few months until it's paid off. I just want it to last and look good for a few years without a payment.

Chips on the rocker, I wouldn't attempt any upper body painting that would be noticeable. Was thinking as a protective measure I'd just paint the bottom few inches from behind the front wheels all the way to the bumper.

I did a forum search and found AutoMotiveTouchup and placed the order through them.

I had heard automotivetouchup was good and was glad to hear it since I had already ordered paint from them. Unfortunately the paint I got is much darker than my truck. My truck is a 2015 Deep Cherry Red and the paint I got almost looks like it could be Delmonico Red. I'm pretty disappointed because I was hoping to color match a new grille and bumpers but it looks like I'm out $80ish instead. Hopefully it works out better for you. Your truck looks to be a different red than mine but I can't really tell from our profile pics.

^^^^^ I'd check to see if they sent the correct paint code. Yours is the first complaint I've heard about them. I've never dealt with their customer service so I don't know how they do but if you return it let us know, Please. I don't want to keep recommending a place that doesn't do right for their customers.
