Ive always dug the idea of a 1500 diesel truck. Fuel efficientcy, towing ability, lots of great mod possibilities, and my number one most important reason, LONGEVITY. :)

I know so many dudes with 5.9 cummins that have over a million miles. No troubles at all. And they work the crap out of them. I dont know anybody at all that has gotten that out of a gasoline engine with nothing other than regular maintainance. Even though I just sold my diesel and now drive a gas truck, Im a big fan of Dodges diesels. Well Dodge in general. But thats why we are all here..

I would be in line if they ever really do it. :peace:

Now... This may have been mentioned or may not have been, either way I'd thank you to ignore my ignorance. :D Isn't there Sierra 1500 Diesel trucks? I'm sure I've seen them around. They were a little old mind you, however I'm sure they were both diesel and 1500.

Anyways, I once knew a man who drove one of these trucks that I think might have been a sierra diesel and he loved his truck and apparently people offered to buy it from him almost weekly.

Are you talking about those old non turbo GM diesels? There are no factory 1500 diesels at this time. There will be soon now with the Ram.

Yea, they had the 6.2 diesels in them for a while, early 90s I believe. I think for a year or so they also had the 6.5 as well in the 1500s

Interesting read on one of the chevy forums, sounds like the new diesels may be available for ordering

It is sad to read all these problems about GM Dealerships. Being from Flint, MI and born into a family that everyone works for GM, you always had to buy GM. 25 years after I bought my 1st GM car, I have realized that the quality and customer service available at the dealer level is appalling. My last GM car has now exceeded the 50% mark for repairs. At 145k miles, it has surpassed 15k in repairs alone. Which is 50% of the sticker price.

It was my local dealer that closed the deal for me on NEVER to buy a GM vehicle again. I just ordered my new RAM 1500 with the diesel engine. This will be my 2nd RAM, and I am pleased with the truck and the professionalism I get from my local dealer. It surpasses that I have ever received from my Chevy dealer.

I hope the original poster gets his truck fixed right. And I agree with most people here. I don't give a crap if the dealer is independently owned and operated, if you are representing MY product as a manufacturer, you are going to do it our way or else.

The dealerships are the root cause of customer loss. And this poster is a fine example why. The dealer was making up crap just to not service his vehicle for *punishment* for not buying from them.

GM WILL ALWAYS TAKE THE DEALERS SIDE! I know this from many personal encounters with GM and their network of dealers.

Yeah this will prolly be like a 6th gen ram thing. But definately cool!

NOPE, more like a 4th gen thing hahah

They up the numbers much more then that they'll be hurting there own sales of 3/4 ton trucks
It's still a half ton and is targeted more for fuel efficiency rather the power and towing
I'll believe it when I see it!

You're now a believer

Glad this doesn't look like an immediate reality considering I just bought a 3/4 ton for the diesel!!!

There are good points here - if the diesel makes as much power as the gas, what's the point?

It is pretty close to immediate.
