Oil change message

I have a 2009 Ram 4.7 that I recently bought from a dealership. They told me they changed the oil but about a week later the change oil message came on. The windshield sticker says I have about 3k to go till the next oil change. Does the oil change message come on automatic after a certain number of miles or is it based on oil life??

I haven't tested it to be 100% sure, but i'd wager if you just go into the oil life and reset it on your cluster that the message will go away. They probably just forgot to reset it at the shop.
