Oil Change

Those aren't bad pressures,nothing to write home about,but still well with-in spec. My 80,000 mile 300 with a stock oil system,runs down the road at roughly 57/58 psi when the rpm is around 1700 and the oil is at 205F with 5W-30,and idles at 48/49 psi hot with the idle set at 750 rpm,at it's full throttle 5600 shift rpm it hits about 75 psi.Even when it was at the stock idle rpm it idled at 43psi hot in gear.
I run the Royal Purple 20-820 filter and a mix of 5W-30 Redline and 5W-30 Pup,if you're runing 5W-20,step it up to at least 5W-30,your engine will like it more.

Seriously, 5/W30 on the 5th gens? I have always thought that the 5-20 was like sewing machine oil being so thin but went by what the book says. No negative effects on the MDS/VVT? My truck has the basic bolt-ons and I have no tune or unlocked ecu. Like I said I was in city traffic and had to keep my eyes on the road. I've really never looked at the psi on the highway and on hard throttle and would like the protection of an oil living in the Houston heat. Its been 90 plus all week and still have several months of heat here.

Funny you say that. I got corrected a couple time on that with in the first couple months after I started there. Really did.

I know of guys running 10W-30 in Texas,at the very minium i'd be running a good quality 5W-30,or even a 0W-40 if it's PUP /Pennzoil Ultra Platinium
