^^^ what he said. I do it every time before I actually start the truck when I pick it up from recall or warranty work. The short run time from their bay to the parking spot will clack and clang every time.

I know its been said before on here but to avoid the horrible sounds of a short startup and shut down (like just moving the truck in the driveway quick) do a quick rev to between 1500-2000 rpms before you shut it off. No startup clatter next time.

I usually blip the throttle up before I key mine off. It does start smoother.

Pre & post lubing. We did that on big engines to minimize bearing wear, but in our case (Hemi) it's to minimize lifter roller seizure! Oh, well.

I would have been fine with the trans oil thermostat if they'd have sized it correctly and used a quality stat, but no. F it all up and act surprised transmissions burn up.

Why they did not use a thermostat that opens at around 125 deg, can not figure.

I received my order from Summit Racing, two Royal Purple 20-820's. They are stamped on the bottom manufactured in Mexico on 12-06-2022 ...

They appear to be quality made. I'll use them and find out.

Interesting - always thought Royal Purple was made in USA. Fram is still marking their Ultra XG filters made in USA (last I bought was early Dec.)

I don't have anything against mexican products though. if none were available made in usa or canada I would far prefer it to china...

Mexican production has improved. Since NAFTA 1st took effect in the 90's, it was awful. We had to re-work entire wiring harnesses, totally incorrect.

Well, you have me wondering if my truck was "made" or "built" in Mexico. I guess possibly both.

Assembled is the accurate term today.

Days of integrated manufacturing are long gone. Assemblies and parts come to the Assembly Plant from all over the world.

I must say I am very surprised that the rp20-820 is still in stock at least at my local summit racing. I figured they would of been sold out across the board by now. we must be single handedly boosting the Mexico and US Economy in some way or another.

Have another fram xg2 i just swapped out with the metal backing still, i have yet to find one where the box says perfect seal and no metal backing. I should have looked at the newest one i swapped it out for! But this one i took off was purchased in june of 2022.

Must be regional, the last 2 I've purchased say "perfect seal" on the box. I'm going to cut it open as carefully as I can when I do my next oil change in 4 months, see if it's still holding up without the metal.

But hopefully some canuck vendors start stocking the RP so I can move back to them.

The past 2 I've changed now did say perfect seal on box but still is indeed the wire mesh backer. All bought from walmart

They might have metal backing still. I looked thru the centertube holes in the 5 i bought and they all had wire mesh backing in the new perfect seal packaging. Im assuming old product in new packaging

Perhaps an educated public is the blame for the massive 20-820 shortages, one can hope that this strange phenomenon keeps happening and supply and demand will rule, we will all be better off for it. Don't settle unless you absolutely have too in all things.

Yup...just received 3 more, for a total of 10 in stock, which should last me 10 years. I'm guessing my truck will last that long or longer...overly optimistic maybe? Lol!
