Wix, And I believe the specs call for 5W30.

03-05 yes, however in 05 they switched it to 5W-20 so that all the 5.7's were using the same oil. LX 5.7 with MDS came out that year and they knew the 06 1500 was gonna have MDS as well. In case you have doubts though:

I recommend ya use 5/30 to help keep the Hemi tik away.
And it’s won’t hurt anything.
Pennzoil is highly recommended.
Most everyone is using Red Line 5/30 and a Royal Purple filter.

I meant to caveat with this, if I had a non-MDS later 5.7 I'd stick with 5W-30.

I prefer an extended life filter even though I never extend it's life....every 5K.
Synthetic or at least a blend.

As long as it doesn’t say fram on it, you’ll be fine.

I'm torn with Fram. On one hand, I've used them for years and had great results. On the other hand I've seen the video where they cut them open and how cheaply they are made.

I've used fram mostly for over 40 years and hundreds of thousands of miles on most every engine known to man without any problem. Only a very few filter makers and they make all the labels. If your factory filter has a bypass just make sure the other filter you use has one too.Maybe I'm just brave...or stupid.Lol

Chances are you won’t have a problem with them, but I’ve seen what they make them out of and there’s literally no reason to risk it when you can get better made filter for the same or less money. To each his own but you couldn’t pay me to use one of those things.
