I am trying to figure out why my oil pressure gauge drops when the engine is warm. it drops when i come to a complete stop and rises when i hit the gas pedal.

How far does it drop? I think it's completely normal for it to so that to some extent. Oil thins as it's heats up so you get increased flow and a reduction in pressure. When hot and you stop the truck reduced engine speed causes an easier path for oil to flow v's an engine under load.

It drops all the way down and there are no oil leaks anywhere, that was the first thing I checked. So I'm pretty stumped as to what it is. I'm going to replace the oil pressure sensor and see if that helps...

Make sure you get a Mopar oil psi sensor nothing else and even then they are suspect for accuracy. From the factory the oil pump pickup tube lack in every aspect, be ready to drop the oil pan and replace the oil pump and the pickup tube. I would also do a mech oil psi test.

Thanks merc. As soon as I can underneath it I will be doing that. It doesn't seem to hinder the performance of the truck it's just a little odd.

You know the gauge is a dummy gauge it does t really read psi. You probably have a sensor going bad. But don't rely on that gauge to tell you whether or not you have oil pressure
