I have a 2006 2500 SLT with over 180K miles on it. Up until last week, this engine has been running great. At idle, VERY quiet and very smooth. Last week, my oil pressure gauge (no numbers just lines) started dropping when I was at idle (500rpm). I checked the oil level and saw no issue, but it kept happening. So I got some "Engine Flush" and poured it in the engine, ran the engine for the specified 5 minutes, then changed the oil and filter. I ran this truck for the entire weekend with no issues. Monday morning, it starts again. The thing I also noticed was when I was replacing the filter, the oil pressure sensor (just above the filter) has some oil on it. Is it possible for the sensor to crack and leak oil and then not read the pressure properly? When I'm driving at speed, the gauge is reading normally.

When my sensor failed , I added a tee then ran A-N hose to a mechanical gauge in my cab.

Now with the mechanical gauge I have more faith that the reading is accurate.
