Been a member for almost 5 years and never thought starting a thread for my truck, lol.
Got the truck from my brother-in-law in 2017.
Being in Northern Ontario, the road salt does a lot of damage to vehicles. So I'm trying to fix the rusted areas economically.
Got a pair of silver fenders from a local wrecking yard really cheap. Just needed to remove the advertising paint and fix a few areas of surface rust. The fenders are still very solid.
A little lacquer thinner...
This year, the cargo box had to be changed. I noticed that the Back Rack was moving when I hit a bump and when I investigated, the front box mounts were completely rusted and not holding the box anymore. The box liner hid the damage.
Although it looks bad, the frame is still quite solid.
I took the loose rust off the frame and gave it a couple coats of DOM-16...canadian version of POR-15 and about half the cost. Also a few coats of paint on the areas exposed to the sun.
Was planning to travel to Southern Ontario to get a rust-free box from a business that hauls them from the States but noticed that the local auto wrecker just received a box from a wrecked 2008 Ram. This Ram was in an accident a few years ago and the box was replaced with a new OEM one. Plus I got the cap thrown into the deal. It's not silver, but the black matches the trim and seems to be ok.
Got the box installed with the help from my son.
And got the cap on today!!
Just need to install the fender flares and mud flaps.
