Not according to the ram website...3.73s are listed as standard for the outdoorsman

I know, I read somewhere where the outdoorsman did as well.

I know your up on your research I was just throwing that out there incase you might of been slightly dyslexic it happens to me all the time. the brochure doesn't state that only available with 4.10 (maybe because the 2500 diesel doesn't have 4.10 available) and we all know the build tool to be misleading. I guess the only way to know for sure is to check them out on the lot.

The different axle ratio thing gets beat to death on RV/Towing forums and I really wonder how much difference it makes. Very few, if any, posts I've read come from someone who has actually driven both.

In most cases all it really changes are some shift points. The 1-2 gap on the 6.4 Hemi 6spd is an annoyance with both (as per numerous posters' reports). Once you're moving more than 25mph I just can't imagine anyone could tell the difference without driving the exact same load on exact same trucks. I took the 3.73 with mine as it was available. Also, I tow 8500# max and mainly use my truck as a daily driver so no real need for the higher ratio.

I guess my point is people laying awake at night over this decision are really wasting their time unless they are going to max out the truck and tow north of 10,000# or so on a regular basis. On a % basis it's really minor.

Ok well, we went and dealt with another salesman who actually listened to us. We went through and did a direct build of everything we wanted- luxury group, comfort group, etc. Basically the whole ball of wax.

After the last go round we talked numbers. They moved a lot more than the first go round. Increased the trade in on my 1500 by 5500, knocked 7K off MSRP. Could I push for more? Likely. Would I get more? I doubt it. They are really aggressive on the trade in.

So, we looked at the build sheet. Two colors we like. Bright white and granite. They have a granite on the lot with everything we optioned PLUS the Nav and sunroof but no tow mirrors or steps. They said they will swap in the power heated tow mirrors for no charge if I am willing to take it, but I have to buy steps. The thing that is sitting in my mind is that I can physically see the payload placard- 3008lbs. That takes the guessing out of things.

Fun stuff. Now the agonizing decision to see if we pull the trigger.

If you do go that route have them give you the steps at dealer cost and install them, that is what I ended up doing. It was $540 installed for the wheel to wheel steps, since it is a $600 option from the factory so I thought that was a good deal.

If you serious and you really want to finish the deal and you want to push some more I'll bet you they cave and will throw the steps in. That's my opnion if you are serious about it call your salesman don't go up there and say I'll do it at those prices but you have to throw in the mirrors and steps. If you go up there they will have the upper hand because you will have to walk away, over the phone all you have to do is hang up.
