CEL came on like 6 months ago with this code. Absolutely no difference in performance. Still purrs like a kitten and shifts fine. I reset it a few times and the light comes back on within a minute. Actually like twice it went off by itself for a day. I know most likely I will need to replace the PCM, just wondering if anything bad is going to happen until I get the chance to address it. Could be another month or so.

Have you verified battery voltage yet? Low voltage can trigger this code. You might try clearing the code and reseating the PCM connectors, making sure they are clean. Replacing the PCM would be last resort as I imagine they are pricey.

Possible causes
- Faulty Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM) harness is open or shorted
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM) cicuit poor electricl connection
- Low battery voltage

Have not verified voltage. No issues starting or anything so just didn't think of that. Any idea what minimum voltage should be for it not to be an issue with the PCM?

12.3v after sitting an hour or so.

Start with this to ensure the battery isn't the issue: Clean the battery and ground terminals. Check your cables and ground straps. Then measure the voltage at the battery while idling. Should be reading around 13.8vdc. With the truck turned off and after sitting a while, a healthy battery should read around 12.6vdc.

All terminals/connections/grounds etc are clean and good. After sitting a while the voltage drops to 12.2-12.3
I should probably check first thing in the morning before starting just to see how low it drops.

12.1 this morning, sat over night.
Guess I'll start with a new battery and see what happens.

New battery didn't do the trick.
Light came back on within minutes.
Back to the drawing board...

It will likely need a pcm. I have never seen an internal failure code not require module replacement. The flow chart for that code goes: Is the code active? If yes, replace module.

That sucks. Next step would be to clean and reseat the PCM connections to ensure those are good. Might be time to start shopping for a PCM too.

I can get a plug and play online for under $200. Ugh...
