Hey guys... Took off my mirror covers today to paint them body color... Scuffed them up real good and threw on some primer and a few coats of paint. Letting them cure overnight and a few more coats in the morning, I'm excited. Question for the ones who have also painted theirs.... Did you sand the primer smooth prior to painting? Or did you leave it with the textured look?

Sanded mine but it didn't matter. When I started painting my daughters came in the garage and bumped the table; covers fell on the ground and got nice and sandy. Lol, gotta love the kids

I sometimes do wet sand my primer before applying color coat. But since the primer came out smooth I didn't bother, final out come was smooth finish. I did wet sand the clear coat however.

Bigolayne, that seems about right.. Where I'm from, you cant paint anything unless you're in an air locked room. A bug or two is guaranteed to land right in your wet paint.

Looks like it came out good.

But I have to agree with gasser...at least on the black pillar portion as I just made mine black. :naughty:

Hopefully it's just the pictures.. The before pic is much better quality. Just saying it looks much better in person :). I appreciate the opinions though, good thing is that nothing is permanent.

I want to paint match mine but I'm always worried about the fact almost all my driving for work is highway driving and I feel like they'll get destroyed

Edit:looks good, would've looked better with black pillars though lol :********:

Maybe I'll get tired of it and swap some things around like the chrome ones..

No it's very simple. 3 screws.

If you do a google, someone has a writeup on how to remove them, it takes 1 min/side
