My department has two Ram 1500's, a 2013 that's going out of service and a 2015. The 5" radio in the 2015 is acting up so we swapped the 2013 5" radio into it and it works fine. We wanted to install the problem radio in the truck that's out of service but it will not power up at all in the older 2013 Ram. Powering up wasnt the problem with this radio in the newer 2015 truck. Is there a code that must be entered for this to power up in the different older truck?

I'm not aware of any code that would prevent it from powering up. The security/anti-theft code is the only thing I've ever seen.
Plus the radio would have to be powered up to enter a code anyway.

Would these 5" radios require the anti-theft code like the larger 8.4" ones. I can't seem to get a definitive answer. I called two Dodge dealerships. One said no code required, the other one said I "probably" need a code

It seems that a lot of people that have swapped in 5" radios did not require a code. However, the one that I had DID require a 4 digit anti-theft code. The only way to know is to put it in and see.

Most people get the code from their dealer parts department with the radio part number and VIN of the truck.

I didn't have luck with that, so I went to this site and paid $13 for the code, and they email it to you. I've used them twice successfully.

Hope this helps
