Washed my truck today and noticed water pooling on the passenger side of the cowl. Takes a really long time to drain, and eventually it drains only because the truck was aimed slightly downhill so the water overflowed the top and you could hear it hitting the engine compartment side of the inner fender well.

Any tips on how to fix it? Is there a tube from the cowl downward, or is there potentially just a bunch of stuff stuck in the area underneath the trim? (which would require removing the wipers and cowl trim piece to get to)

Thanks.

I have noticed this so I took a closer look...I have a single little hole for drainage....I just chalked it up to the small hole

The fact it ends up on the wrong side of the fender well makes me think it's not working as designed.... Like the fender well is only for overflow if the drain doesn't work.

Then again not everything in our trucks is designed well :)

I also worry about where the water would go if the truck was parked with the rear lower than the front.

What's on the other side of that little hole?

I've thought about making that hole bigger, but I dont want larger debris getting down inside

This is my question as well. I dont think there is a tube, or at least I dont see any reference to one in the service manual.

But if its just a hole, why does the water drain so slowly (or not at all)?

Old school vehicles drained the cowl into the dog leg of the front fenders. When the dog leg got full of dirt, leaves, etc the cowl would then overflow out to underneath the hood (or worse, right into the car). Similar to what I see the truck doing right now.....my floors are still dry, but I worry about how long, if indeed there is a clogged drain somewhere.

Clean the hole in the cowl panel. It get plugged real easy as it is kinda small. If you are worried, then pull the plastic panel and see if you need to clean anything else.

I am currently having the same problem. Every time it rains, water spills onto the passenger front floor. I first noticed minimal moisture gathering underneath the weather tech floor mat there about two months ago, the situation has worsened exponentially. I believe the gathering of small pine needles is the culprit as I removed the cabin filter after 22,000 miles and discovered it packed with these pine needles. I made an appointment for the dealer which is a month out after seeking help from Corporate Chrysler, no help there. I have determined that water spilling directly into the cowl is what is spilling onto the passenger floor and cannot find where the cowl drain hole is located. I have had both front wheels off and inner fender liners out, may have missed it as I was looking for a drain tube. Can anybody give a verbal description or maybe even a picture? I would love to fix this myself and cancel my dealer appointment.
