revised plans!

Decided it was crazy to have my packing station on the other side of the steps.......so we moved it. Also moved the oven to the end of the bench.

So, now that I'm in the house and can get REAL measurements, here's the deal!

Main workbench - 18ft, with the oven tucked under it. Benchtops are at 40" off the ground - no more leaning over to work (old one was 36").

and the work so far........should have the oven functioning tonight, and the benches will be built

electrical fun........putting in a 100A sub panel to run all this stuff. Oven takes 2 of the 8 circuits. I'll end up having 10 electric boxes on the main workbench.....LOL - NOT running out........tired of that! Oh, I'll have 4 on the packing station too...

I like how we are doing the bench as well, nothing to smack my chins on......

Got the lights for the shop the other day too.....and you know, I've gotta have it bright........I got 4 lights. Each are 8' long, consisting of 4 high output T5 bulbs, each putting out 5,000 lumens. Can ya say 80,000 lumens to work in? BOOM! LOL

DONE, well - with phase 1. This is just the work area here, more shelving in other parts of the basement to come in the next few weeks. Gotta get my bathroom in here. LOL

Few more things in here to "complete" it. Nabbed a LONG HDMI cord, going to run it to a second monitor for the computer - leave the computer on the packing station, put the monitor on the bench above the stove, with a wireless keyboard / mouse - so I can work at both places.

Got the tunes in, and man, these kickers rock! I picked up a refurb'd Pioneer receiver for cheap......to power them. Its overkill for what I truly need, but damnit, its sweeeeeeeeeeet. Ganked the sub from our bedroom set, and......well, crank the hell out down here. Gotta love that!

Very nice setup! My wife does not understand the need for shop space and how important it is to spread out a bit when working to be properly organized. It's obvious you don't live somehwere that gets overly cold, there's no insulation on those walls! I'd freeze in our winters, lol.

It gets cold.............not Canada cold though. LOL

The concrete walls of the basement, yeah - they get a little cold, there is insulation above them - where the outer wall of the house hits the concrete. But.......to put it into perspective.........house is set at 70 degrees with the heater. there is a single vent in this vast basement - 1800 sq ft basement........1 vent. WTF. LOL Its 66 in the shop right now. Thats about perfect.....especially when I'm about to fire up the oven.

space is awesome! Love being able to spread out........though I'm still in the mode of "do everything on this 7ft section".......not used to having 12ft of room to play with (before the 6' of area at the end that is half shelved) - and the other 8ft on the other side (packing station).

LMAO, 1 vent, that's poor HVAC design, And I did specify OVERLY cold, it's a relative thing I'm well aware, lol, only a few places on Earth get 'Canada Cold'... like Siberia.

At least in the summer it will be nice and cool and since you have so many plugins you can add a space heater or two if you require them in the winter, or just turn on the oven and crack the door... we've never had to do that in Calgary :pp:

For the opposite end of that basement I would totally have a wood shop.

Yeah, LOTS of outlets.........I got tired of popping the circuit at the old place.

Here, I have 3 banks of circuits just for the shop.......well, 5. 2 for the oven, 2 for the main bench and 1 for the packing station. Then there is an existing outlet by the panel and one under the workbench......those are on different circuits. Overkill? Yes, love it.

As for a wood shop - too much dust........gotta keep that away from the lights! :D

Convert, for now.

How do those speakers sound? I like them and would want some for the garage possibly.

The rock...if you add decent power they are perfect. We use them in shops, patio, backyard, etc.
