Have seen a million posts and videos... figured it was time to do this.

I did not take the rims off the truck. Did not screw around with index cards. Saw a video, not sure which one, but they just sprayed the rims, and the Dip just peeled off the tires. Figured I'd give it a shot!

First, pic of the "before"....

Here is a pic of the prepped wheel...cleaned, taped the lugs, center cap, and valve stem...put 2 garbage bags behind to cover the brakes...

I used about a can per wheel...then put on about a can of glossifier, which was 2 coats per wheel. I rolled the car back to change the angle of spray a bit...here are the results...

My wife wanted me to keep the center cap chrome...I'm glad she did, very happy with the results!!! Truck looks absolutely bad-ass! Best $30 mod on the planet! Tinting the front windows to match soon, will be perfect until the next bug hits me!

Very nice. Coincidentally I dipped the wheels on my max steel sport today also.

OP turned out great!!
Sport wheels look too good to spray liquid rubber on them, for shame (IMO)

Looks great! Has anyone seen or done chrome clad wheels plasti dipped?

Just give it a shot. The stuff is around 8 bucks a can. Get 2 and see how you like it. I used it on previous vehicles and like what it can do for the price.

I did mine awhile back, I've since peeled it off but I'm probably going to do it again in the fall

Looks great guys! I'm about to do mine too, just waiting for a solid warm daY. I'm going to be doing my chrome Clads.

I'm kinda stuck on doing the center caps and lugs or not.

You're probably better off buying new lugs if you want them black. The plasti dip will come off when you torque them.

I did mine while still on the truck...technically I could have just sprayed the whole rim, lugs and center caps.

My wife felt they would be too monochromatic if I did the lugs and the caps...I agreed and am happy I didn't do them. Breaks it up, and makes them look exactly like the Black Edition Ram rims. Also am happy I went with a couple of coats of glossifier...it was a bit too matte for my taste without it, almost flat actually.

Very nice...color match the rims with the truck paint.

Plastidip is great, but just make sure you make that coat very thick. I used it on the bottom sides of my truck and because i used a very light layer (2-3 coats) i couldnt peel it off easy. Simple fix, just taped off the area again...and repained 5-6 coats, then after letting it dry, i peeled it off with no problems.

That's a hood point. think I'll paint everything but the Lugs. Does anyone know the thread pitch and depth of the OEM lugs?

I know this isn't Plasti-Dip, but thought I'd show what my Limited looks like with the Limited wheels painted black with wheel paint (and keeping the chrome bits) - just so you can get an idea for looks. In the past I've Plasti-dipped the wheels on our Yukon Denali and been pleased with the results, although I think the glossifier would have been a cool thing to add. The Plasti-Dip lasted quite well - but I never took it through an automated car wash for fear of peeling. I've heard it's okay, but didn't want to learn the hard way if it wasn't....
