Have the old engine out and cleaning reusable parts to install on the new engine. I definitely need to do the plenum gasket before putting on the intake. I’ve seen lots of videos and read lots of posts on the subject. It seems everybody does it a little different. I purchased all new Fel Pro gaskets and that’s what I’m using on this plenum, I did try to order a Hughes Plenum plate but they’re on Backorder ( 3.9 plenum plate ) so I’ll be using the original metal plate. This truck only has 60k miles so I’m thinking it’s the original gasket/plate. My question is what’s best to use ? Just the dry gasket or should I use some type of rtv sealer as well? If so what type or brand? I know this has been asked many times before but these trucks are 20+ years now, gaskets and sealants have been improved.

Install the gasket dry. Make sure the plate is clean and that all of the old paper gasket has been removed and when you install the plenum plate torque the fasteners to spec.

FYI, the new style gasket is a metal gasket and not a paper gasket like the old one.
