I got a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 hemi just had the fuel pump replaced now it throws a PO455 code would you start with the gas cap or the EVAP canister and also sometimes when I am coming to a stop it will go dead what would cause that to happen other than that the truck is flawless

Not sure about it going dead but that code detects a leak in the system. Are you sure it's not just from when the system was "opened up" to replace the pump? Have you reset the code and does it come back?

P0455 is a LARGE evap leak. Perhaps some hose was left off when pump was replaced or possibly something damaged. I wouldn't think a gas cap, thats usually a small leak, or the computer actually checks for leak every fill up to warn you of leaving the gas cap off while filling up. Smoke test if possible, or look around where you can see if any hoses were left loose arount the evap canister or gas tank.

The other possibility is the purge valve stuck open, may be easy to check, this could cause truck to die when letting off the gas because essentially its a huge vacuum leak.

Possible fuel pump relay, that build into the TIPM, there is a relay bypass kit you can get diagnose to problem at
verticalvisions.com, and there is a company that fixes them.

Did you get under and check? I replaced my fuel senor by dropping the tank was a quick job maybe two hours. A day later I started to receive that error so I cleared it, even disconnected the battery only for it to come back on the follow day. So I went underneath and found two connections I forgot to connect..no wonder the job was so fast!
