Ported it sealed box ?

I’m trying to decide if I should use a ported or sealed box with 2 12” (any recommendations on subs) on a 17 regular cab

The sub you buy will determine if the box needs to be ported or sealed. Each brand specs out what is best for their speaker.

A sub can go in either ported or sealed. Brand has nothing to do with it. They will give specs on the recommended air space for both ported or sealed enclose.
A sealed will be a smaller box, and will yield tight punchy bass great for country and rock music. Ported will give deep boomy bass, works great for rap, pop, and jazz.

Space, and your music preference will be your biggest factors, and rms power your amp will put out of you already have one.

With the limited air space I would go sealed. Look for ones happy in 1.0 cu.ft. or less. Net audio makes some good prefabs. Looking for spl go sundown audio. Musical jl is a good choice. The net audio tall box will accomodate a 12w6......barely.
