I found a leftover 2013 Ram R/T that has the features I am looking for. THe price is 35,800 before rebates. I was considering offering $31 or 32k for the truck. I know that seems like a lot including the rebates but I have never negotiated with rebates before. I always treat them as a bonus after the negotiation has been made.

I don't feel that say $32 is too low to offer but wanted to see what others thought.

I've always been curious to what dealers actually pay for a R/T. Worst answer is no. Some dealers move such a high volume of vehicles they may take your offer. Some smaller dealers hold on to them because they know its a "special" model and can hold out for that sucker who is going to get financed at a super high rate and pay sticker price. Do you plan on financing?

THAT is a good deal. Any haggling or did you just say take it or shove it?

It was a big dealer and they had 6-7 left over R/T's. I got lucky I guess.

Nice, you got a better deal on your RT than I did on my Black edition express. I did get what I wanted off and put 0 down with a very low finance rate, so I can't complain.

I never pay close to sticker. My '12 was stickered at $29,980 used, I drove off with it for $20k even and got $13,500 for my 2007 chevy 2500 and a brand new set of tires. I always look at it from this angle. When you leave the lot, you lose about 10-20% of the price in depreciation, they should have to share in that. So, for a $35k truck, I would offer $28k and go no higher than $30k, for example, plus the rebates off. The best way to get the deal is to waste the dealers time, tie them up on a busy day for a few hours or so and make them desperate. It usually works, but sometimes it is just a waste of time, but it is worth it when you get the deal you want.

I do plan on financing but I never deal that way. I only look at that once I get the dealing done on the vehicle price. I don't let them do that. If they start to try to do deal on payments I quickly put an end to it. They do hat to try and get you to deal by what you want to pay per month an hammer you on the interest rate.

I know on my 2011 I paid sticker($33,***) but it had just arrived on the lot like a week prior, that was in November 2010. Plus that dealer only orders 1 R/T for each model year

$30k should be doable

That's what I am thinking. Plus I know they are kinda acting like they are holding onto it but I know for a fact they have had the truck since before the beginning of summer. I would think they are getting to the point of wanting to move it now with the 2014 R/T's now starting to show up on lots.

I was trying to deal with a local dealership that stated they would get it and sell it but they were lowballing on my trade over a single ding. Truck is immaculate other than that. I figured I might be better off dealing with the dealer that has it even though they are 2hrs away. I just emailed them tonight straight up my offer and what i wanted for my trade. I only asked for $500 more on my trade but figured I would easily make up for it if they take my offer and then the $5300 incentives the truck qualifies for.

Beauty of this is this only gets it down to just below invoice but should avoid their holdback. It also doesn't really touch the kickback they will get from Chrysler on the truck so they would make money and I would make save. Win, win for everyone. Problem is some dealers are plain greedy.\

What are they offering you on trade?

$14,500. It's 2011 slt reg cab with the 4.7. It doesn't have too many miles and has a few nice additions like nav and backup camera. It should be worth a little more but I am not going to worry too much about it as I should be able to move up to $15,000.

Some food for thought, if they have a lot of stock on hand, trying to get more money for your trade in may work against you. If you can, finance your truck without trade in, then sell your truck privately, then pay down your financing with the cash from your sale. You may get a way better deal in the long run.

If your loan is structured the right way, you could pay off five figures of principal and cut of a couple of years of car payments and/or refinance your loan for less money.

Another thing to consider, if they take your deal over the internet that means they have more room to move on the deal. When you get there, renegotiate a little more off of theirs. Never talk payments, you need to have those roughly figured yourself. Only worry about the bottom figure because that will only screw you in the end.

Mine stickered at $39,900 and I got it out the door at about $32,000 before trade / cash down. I Think you can get it lower than that. Shoot for 28k-29k, worst they will do is tell you that they can't do that price.

I did 'alright' I felt on my '11. Sticker was 25 I walked out for 20.
I didn't do so hot on my '13. Sticker was just under 39 and I paid around 38 for it.

I feel ashamed now.

What model truck do you have and when did you purchase it?
