Hi guys.

So I just picked up a 5.9 motor 46re trans and tcase from a 01 1500. I needed the trans but the motor came with it. I am considering dropping in the 5.9 block and heads so I can build my 5.2 at a later date before I blow it up. Is there any different sensors or harness issues I should worry about? I would like to use my factory harness or as much of it as possible. I plan on using all the dressings from my 5.2 including intake, tb, and I assume I will need to have the ecu flashed. Hints or tips please.

Check the heads for cracks between the valve seats - depending on how bad they are the heads may or may not be any good.
I can't remember what year they changed the injector and sensor connections but you can just use your 5.2 parts if the connections are different - or there are some adapters out there.

Use your original sensors and injectors. Use whichever intake matches the harness best, minor moves between years on a few random things like vacuum lines. Heads between the 2 engines are no different. I honestly wouldn't even bother with removing the heads to check em. 99% of the factory heads on these trucks have cracks between the valve seats and it's nothing you'd ever know without removing and looking at em. PCM just needs to be one that matches engine size, trans and model year. It would likely be easier and more worth your time to just buy a tune.
