Hey I'm new here and new to the Ram. Any suggestions on a really solid and reliable Cold Air Intake or exhaust brand? I'm trying to get the most bang for my buck and any input from experienced 2nd gen Ram owners would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to RF!
Opinions are as varied as colors of Dodge Rams on this. :) There are planty of good systems out there so let your budget and I guess your ears (where the exhaust is concerned) be your guide.
One system I would avoid is the K&N FIPK. Despite improvements, the plastic tube still cracks.
I believe that the biggest gain comes from a proper tuner which reprograms your factory PCM. I have noticed the best improvements since installing my SCT.

Just for the record, I run a 14x3 chrome aircleaner and a dual outlet catback with a Maremount Vortex muffler.

I agree with Okie, tuner will give you the best bang for your buck with "bolt ons". My Superchips Flashpaq amazed me!

So any other tuners besides the superchips flashpaq? anything with built in tunes comparable to EFI live in the duramax? he's got 5 different tunes that he can choose from using a selector knob

Flashpaq has a 87 tune, 91 performance tune, towing tune, and fuel economy tune. All have to be reprogrammed for each one. I'm not aware of any for our trucks that operate like ones for diesels

I have the SCT which I'm currently testing in an 89 tune for mileage. It really woke up my truck.

^^There's not many options for us pre-98 guys. I think hypertech makes one but that's all I've seen

The SCT can be setup for earlier trucks but all the threads I've read say the power increase isn't as noticable on them as on later year 2nd gens.
You might query Sean at [email protected] and see what he thinks.

I believe it's easier to pull better numbers from lighter 2wd or non lifted 4wd trucks than heavier 4wd lifted trucks due to areodynamics
