Hey Ram Family!

It's been awhile since I've posted, things have been going fairly good with my truck. My dealership I've been dealing with has been helping me out with my truck due to the fact I was sold a Lemon, and the dealership I bought it from knew full well what was going on.

Anyways, here's my latest problem.

When I use my remote to unlock my truck, the driver side gets stuck. This only happens when I don't drive my truck consistently. I work Sun - Wed, if I don't go anywhere Thursday/Friday/Saturday, when I go to get in my truck, Sunday it won't work. Occasionally it will work, but it's obnoxious as hell to have to go through the passenger side of the truck, and open the driver side. It doesn't matter if I use the passenger unlock button or not, it won't unlock until I pull it up. As someone who leaves a firearms/computers in their truck often, this bugs the hell out of me.

Is this something that would be easy to fix/replace or should I just go to the dealership and have them work on it?

Just to set the record straight, I only leave firearms in my truck when I'm in the store buying more ammo or groceries (minus my concealed carry gun). Can't really walk into Fred Meyer with a Barrett .50 strapped to my back, now can I? :p

Can in Arizona... :)

Door skins come off pretty easy. I would just lube the parts up and then decide if the actuator needs replaced. Can get that off Moparonline i would bet.

Do I need to take the entire door apart like this guy is doing in the video?

Yep. And there are even more vids out there if you look. You just have to decide if it is worth your time.

Hey Binary,

How old is your battery? Maybe the driver door lock actuator just needs a little more oomph to unlock, and after sitting a few days, the battery has drained just enough to not unlock that door?

My batter is about a year, maybe 2 years old. I bought it from Les Schwab. I could always take it in and have them test the battery, make sure it's pushing the right amount of oomph out :D

The Tradesman trim has all sorts of useful cavities for hiding things.

Have you tried doing the unlock with the engine running? Maybe that'd give you an idea if it is power-related without making a special trip to Les Schwab.

It seems to be hit or miss. If I'm far away from the truck, sometimes it won't unlock, if I remote start it won't unlock when I'm close or far away, if it's hot or cold outside, doesn't seem to matter. But what I do know is, if I let it sit for 2+ days without driving, it won't unlock, regardless of what I do.

Guess I'll just start unlocking/locking my truck everyday, and start saving more towards a new truck. Getting tired of posting on here with all these random and stupid problems. It's time for a new truck.
