power steering leaks out of cap after shutting of motor

hello all i have a 1991 d250 with the 5.9 cummins turbo diesel lately i have lost power steering and noticed it was leaking out of my cap only when i shut the truck off , it wont leak while running . i put on a new cap and toped off the ps fluid only for it to happen again any ideas thanks guys

sounds like an air leak for sure, once air gets in, it'll pressurize the system and blow all the fluid out the cap. Check for cracks in the the pump reservoir, check the lines, check o-rings between ps and vacuum pump. All it takes is a little air. Also, what type of fluid are you using and when was it last flushed?

Telltale sign would be, when your fluid comes out, is it foamy?

yes it is foamy , im nt sure which fluid was in there i had just bought a few weeks ago

foamy = air in the system, check it thoroughly for leaks.
