Power steering

Trying to figure out an issue with my power steering. Every half revolution of the steering wheel it hits a hard spot to turn. When driving it's a real pain to overcome that spot (almost like no power steering). I have jacked the truck up and it acts the xame with the wheels off the ground. RPMs don't seem to affect it, so I'm thinking it isn't the pump. Either gear box, or maybe a column u-joint. Anyone have thoughts? Thanks

You wouldn't by chance have a set of JBA 1 7/8" long tube headers on it?

Def check column U joints.(probably not the problem)
Most likely it’s the rack n pinion.
How many miles?
Did you buy it used??

Another u-joint vote here. Mine had the same symptoms, was as rusty as an anchor!
