Driver side window has been intermittent for a few years. Yesterday I power it down, nice day. Got home would not go back up. Today I tore into it. I lubricated the mechanism that slides making the window go up and down. I didn't find any limit switches that would control the auto stop. I think the auto stop works off of current to the motor. The reason for that is no limit switches and it now works since I lubed the sliders. My question is, is there a circuit breaker or control module that senses the motor current so it can shut the motor off ans set the next direction opposite of the current direction? If there is a control module for the auto stop where is it located in a 2004 Ram 2500?

usually how you "reset" the Auto up/down window switches is to hold the button in up position till the window closes fully, then release and hold the button up again for a few seconds. Then repeat the same process for down.
This is generic directions that work on a lot of vehicles/manufacturers

What does this procedure reset? I see no sensors in the door. The motor has tw0 wires,+12 volts and gnd I assume.

This is how you reset the window up function.
I have had to reset mine dozens of times. It works.

The current sensing is typically in the door window switch. If the Auto up or down stops working every time the vehicle is turned off, it's most likely a constant +12V that goes to the switch or the switch is bad.

I'm gunna try this fix. This problem is happening on my 2015 lately. My question is, Is this a problem that is going to get worse over time? My wife's Honda element window actuator went and I thought mine was going too. Took too the stealership, and they reset it for $250. Wish I checked this board first.

I don't think it ever got worse in my 2016 but I did have to do this procedure a few times a year for some reason.

Sucks they charged you $250 to reset the dang thing.

For years I have had windowphobia,
I had a co-worker drive around his car (Ford) for at least two years with non-functional Auto Up/Down windows because he didn't want to take it to a dealership. This procedure worked and was amazed the fix was so simple.
Never hurts to ask a question, worse thing that can happen is no answer.
