Hello all! Planning an audio upgrade in the near future. I have a’22 Big Horn crew cab and I need to know how much power wire is needed to get from the battery to the right rear of the rear seat. Thanks in advance!

The length of the wire is dependent on the routing. The gauge of the wire is critical, you will want the amp to have all the power it needs. Here is a wire gauge calculator I use to find the wire gauge I need for DC circuits.

All solid advice above!

I'd also be installing several new grounding cables throughout your truck, too. Tremendous value in doing this upgrade for our trucks, especially if you're going for audio upgrades.

Recommended is to also include a capacitor (like a db 5-farad digital capacitor...or like product) in the mix and a battery upgrade to an H8 AGM as well.

I'm running a 2100W system from a two amp combo where there is an amp on a raised platform under my drivers seat and then another amp and the capacitor on raised platforms under the front passenger seat.

Unfortunately you are going to have to grab a tape measure and look for the route you want to run the wire and take some measurement's and add about 5ft just to be safe. More information would be great on what you plan on upgrading with as their are some comments of things you may not need if its just a small upgrade. Amp power is not everything you want your amps matched with your speakers. A properly matched lower wattage system will sound much better than a unmatched high power system.

One thing you want to try and avoid when routing your power wire is keep it away from the veh wire harness and your amp input wires as it can cause some strange issues sometimes

Very much thanks to you all for your help with this!! I am far from being an expert but at the same time I have done my share of installations over the years. I was just curious on the amount of power wire length that is going to be required for the job. I am running two Rockford amps with a total of approx. 1200-1300 watts total RMS so not anything too sick. I am reusing the same setup as i have in two SUV’s over the years without any issues whatsoever. Both amps are class D and work perfectly for me. My theory is I would much rather enjoy my music than to care if it impresses anyone else. Never did the SPL competition but would like to go to one of their shows sometime just
to experience it. Wife thinks I am getting too old for this hobby, but music is so very important in my life. I just can’t leave a vehicle in the stock audio format!!! I know that I am not the only one here that has that fever! Thanks again for all inputs received! I owe some handshakes indeed! Take care!
