I'm in the market to add subs to my Crew Cab. With the help of BradKnob and Etroze86, I have settled on two 10" Skar VD's and a ported Fox Box.

But I'm not 100 on the Fox Box. I chose it due to the reviews I've read. But don't like the fact that it x's out the rear cup holders. Does anyone else know of any quality boxes out there for the Crew Cabs? And not the $600 Net Audio box ;)

Building one can be either the most fun you've had or most frustrating lol. There are tons of pre fabs out there but you did list two of the best. The next that I would look at if you can find it is a probox by stillwater designs but they are preloaded an I can't find the specs on it to save my life right now lol.

I know I can build my own, but it would be a sealed box.

Sealed boxes can get down right nasty with output if the right sub is paired with it. I have my VD10's in a cube each off up 800w RMS to the pair and for being underpowered you would think I have a ported enclosure but much cleaner sounding to me. It really depends on what kind of sound you want. I like tight clean bass and others like big boomy bass of ported boxes.

See I never owned a ported box. All mine in the pass were built by me and all sealed. Do you guys think I can make a sealed box for less than the Fox box? I'm a carpenter by trade so I have all the tools, LoL.

What's on my shopping list?

Fiberglass will yield the most volume and I think the best place to look and ask is Bradknob. His is pretty epic.

I'd build your own
The fox box is a pretty good sounding box as long as your sub(s) are happy with the airspace, and you have appropriate power (especially in a sealed application...power is key if you want decent output)
My friend has a $1400 DYNAUDIO Esotar2 1200 sub off 1300 watts infinite baffle in his Acura, but he likes my sub stage just as much...they sound very different from each other tho

This will be my first time using fiberglass. I repaired furniture for a while, so the sculpting, dandimg, and finishing I have down. I will start watching how to's now.

Any pics?

How do you like it? And why didn't you make your own?

I think it sounds pretty good! My favorite sub in this enclosure thus far.
But Iam after sq, not output.
Its very musical, very rich, blends well with my front stage (depending on my levels)
and yea...I like it alot for now lol
I didn't have the time to build an under seat box, but I will eventually pull the trigger on a center console enclosure, front foot-well enclosure, or a simple box behind center console for a single 12"...I have not decided yet, and I may be in the market for a new truck so Iam simply enjoying what I have now.
It get really loud for those specific times, but the Blacks are very gentle as well...they almost disappear which is good.

damn, I must have missed this thread.

yea, build one.

I had a magnum with a ported 15" (SSA Icon) and then switched to 4 - 8" (Image dynamics) sealed. both off of about 1200 watts. I knos its comparing apples to oranges but the out put was way louder with the 15 and the 8" were way more musical but still killed the lows and still plenty of output.

because I like to show off...

cant believe I don't have any pics with the 8" finished

ever since, ive never had another ported enclosure and have never been dis-satisfied. Enough airspace and power will allow a sealed enclosure to pound

Wish I did and ur right. For the price, those were hard to beat. Loved that setup. If it would have fit, I'd have an icon in my truck right now. One of the best SQL subs I ever heard.
