Hoping someone here can help me with this. I have a 2021 1500 Classic 3.7L V6. It has the projector headlights with the small strip of amber LEDs for the turn signal.

I hate these projector lights. One of the headlamps has a ton of water in it and I can’t do anything to dry it out. I’ve tried using a hair dryer, I’ve taken the little caps off, but the water always comes back.

Because of the water, now a few of the amber LEDs went out, so now I’m getting the “Right turn signal” warning on the dash, even though it still works. Problem is, you can’t just replace the LEDs. You have to replace the entire headlamp assembly. Rockauto wants $282 (tax and shipping included) for the assembly.

Instead, I bought two new headlamp assemblies for $210. They’re not projector lamps. These have regular halogen bulbs and turn signal bulbs. The problem is, the connectors are different…even though Rockauto said it would fit my truck.

Do I really HAVE to replace the assembly with the same part? Or is there an adapter for the wiring that I can use to get the new headlamp assemblies to fit?

I’ve never done a repair like this, so I apologize if this is a dumb question.

Are the new assy's OEM or aftermarket? The old connectors can be re-pinned to the new wiring for everything to match. Or you can cut and splice.

Any assy designed to fit the vehicle will work, if you match up the wiring and BCM configuration.

A side note:
If going from LED to Halogen bulb, you must change the settings in BCM to reflect what you have. You can do that with AlfaOBD and OBDLink MX+ OBD dongle, or it's a trip to the dealer.

Yes there's adapters available, try the website for Alpharex headlights.

I have an 03, but why not just buy aftermarkets with OEM plugs that are plug-n-play like mine?

You bought the wrong headlights. On Amazon buy the Akkon projectors, and there are other choices like Aosky that may work. When you buy the correct part, the connectors will be correct as well. At abot $130 each you can't go wrong. The Akkon projectors worked perfectly in my 2016.
