I currently drive a 2012 Dodge Ram R/T. I have put 46,000 miles on it since Feb of last year, and love it. Fuel mileage is great (got the same in my Pontiac G8 V6) for a truck, quick, fun to drive, looks good, great features. But I want something bigger, and possibly 4WD. My salary has increased big time since I got this one, so I want to upgrade.

Anyways, I fell in love with the newer model Rams since their release. the Sport and Laramies to be specific. What are the gripes about the new trucks? Any issues? Does the new transmission yield any improvement in mileage? I am wanting a 4WD of either model with the 8 speed. I plan on putting aftermarket lift, bumpers, and tire/rims.

My other option is a Ford Raptor. I can save a few bucks and increase my gas mileage by talking myself into another Ram.

well all the magazines say the 8 speed is gonna give you better mileage but honestly, if you have the means, go with the raptor. that truck has zero competition in the truck market.

8 speed is great if you do lots of highway. Doesn't have much use in city driving. I like my 6 speed. A big Diesel engine always comes in handy tho .

I would be curious to see how this EcoDiesel will do. It comes standard with the 8 Speed and is rumored to be pulling close to 30 MPG.

I don't care for the raptor and I will wave at you as I pass you by while you are stopped for gas.. again.
