I'm thinking about pulling the trigger this month on a black express with the black package, backup cam, 32 gallon tank, tow mirrors. Was pretty set on doing the crew cab until I realized the rebates are way less! Just had a healthy baby boy born, do you think a rear facing new born seat would fit in a quad? Obviously before I buy I would try but I'm not crazy about rushing my newborn out in this Chicago weather right now. For what it's worth I'm only 5' 6" tall. Price is around $29,500 quad or $34,000 crew and I'm
Not sure it's worth that dramatic of a price difference. Any other options I might want? Everyone shorter okay with the bench seat? It's my first truck I've had all smaller four cylinder cars that's why I really want the backup cam. Thanks.

I'm not much different in height and the baby seat touches the back of my seat. Other kid is already facing forward. Coworker fits his in back just fine also. It's tight when clicking the carrier into the base but not bad. The biggest thing I have dealt with is with the oldest's needing to be forward facing and the fact you have to run the third strap through the headrest legs since I took the head rests off. (Won't fit w the Recaro anyhow.)

I have a washable blanket on the seat to make clean-up easier so I ended up using the lower two latch points on both seats as well as the shoulder-lap belt for the oldest's. Bonus is it turns out that's how they prefer things secured now up to 75lbs at which point the oldest goes to full shoulder-lap belt anyhow.

I can get pics in a day or so if you want.

First off, congratulations!
When I was shopping for mine the rebates made the crew cabs cheaper than quad cabs, that was last July. Possibly they might do something like that this summer? Doubtful but still food for thought. I would have prefered the quad cab as I like the look better and the marginally tighter turning radius would help but I never thought a car seat would be a tight squeeze in a quad cab. It makes me feel a little better as I have a little one on the way in July.

Congratulations. This is my opinion. I went with the crew cab (August 2013). I thought the Quad was two small. I personally didn't like the small backseat if I had to have adults back there. The kids have some extra room and while in the car seats they can't kick my seat while I'm driving :). I did lose some bed space with the 2013 CC, but I wanted better interior comfort for my family. :)

Congrats on your new born! My last truck was a 2012 QC and it seemed that while the leg room was shorter the seat was a normal seat so the car seat would fit in it. The only problem would be how far you like to lean your seat back while you drive. Straight up would be no problem but few drive like that. My suggestion, if you already have a car seat, is to take it with you for your test drive and put it behind you. I have my own questions now. I have a mega cab now and after I lifted my truck I discovered my wife is pregnant with twins. I'm wondering what its going to be like climbing into the truck with a baby in my hands. I think I may have to invest in an expandable sturdy step. Lol

What JBR said!

Congrats on the news. Good for you to be looking. Now its time to deal!!
Let them know that the size of the quad is going to be a deal buster and the price of the crew is driving you to look around. Be nice. Ibet they help you get the Crew cheaper.

I owned a New Quad cab since 2003, Had my son in it since birth no problems there. But every time we needed to take the trcuk with other adults I always wished I had more room for them.

I got my Crew cab for less them the quad cab I went to look at only because I never backed down and stayed nice. No dealer will let you leave if they havent reached their bottom. Good luck to what ever you get Im sure you will enjoy it all the same.

I went from a '11 durango to my ram cc for this exact reason. I use the diono brand seats. im 6'2 (longer legs) i have to have my seat mostly back. in my durango i had to have my son on the pass side even in an infant carrier due to how far i need the seat back. The diono seat i had to put on the pass side and then it would make the pass seat almost all the way up.

In my cc i had it behind me and there was still room to move the seat more.

like others said, take your car seat to the dealer and put it in and see the fitment. you may be happy with a qc over a cc.

on a side note dealers near me are selling cc expresses for close to that price of the qc. heck i got my '13 outdoorsman cc for about 30k

I have 3 kids under 5 years old. I got a crew cab because I was fed up of having my eldest kid kick the back of the driver seat.

As for the rear facing seat, it'll fit in a quad cab, but it will touch the front seats.

My advise, get a crew cab and never look back at your decision. I have never had so much ease loading my kids in the back seat as i do in the crew cab. We'll worth the price difference.

My buddy has a quad, and I got the crew. I was originally thinking the QC would be just fine, but now I'm so happy to have gotten the CC. Mainly there's more than enough room for the car seat, and theres no way little muddy feet can touch the back of my leather seats. The in perspective of the actual size difference the QC fits me 4 adults as in two guys up front and the little women in the back, but my crew could fit me and four other big doods. The CC was well worth it for me, no doubt about my choice.

Get the crew cab is possible. I have a quad cab for my 7 and 9 year old. Its fine for them now, but I can see it being an issue when they get bigger but its not a deal breaker.

i've got a 2010, the cab with the smaller back seat. not sure if its the quad or crew. Anyway, I can fit my son's front facing car seat in there and hes got just enough leg room. He's a toddler though. I know the infant car seats would probably fit just fine too. Up to you man

I have the quad cab and one in a rear facing car seat, one in a booster and one that's 5'8" and they all fit. I'm 6'3" also and my seat is all the way back. The rear facing will touch the backs of the front seat as mentioned above.

If my kids were gone id have went with another quad but being 10&11 the space is very nice, once they are gone or get their own vehicles ill look into another quad to have the extra bed space back

If I had it to do over, which I don't, I would have chosen the club over the quad for sure; especially if it was going to be a primary vehicle with rear passengers in it regularly. The difference is enough to justify the upgrade. Yes, as said earlier, leave the baby at home and take the car seat to the dealer to test it out. If you're good with the fitment then go with the quad. I have a feeling though that if you intend to use it regularly with the family in tow, you'll be happier with a club.

For me the quad is fine, because it's an extra vehicle that I pretty much only use to take to the airport and park it when I go on business trips, so the extra room wasn't a concern.

I would say go crew. The crew seems to be the most popular by far. Although, I have a quad and adults in the back have never been an issue. Actually, I've had 3 adults back there a few times with no issue.

I just checked the specs on my 11 and was surprised that the leg room space wasn't as big as I thought. 5.6" difference. It seems so much bigger. The numbers are:

Leg room Quad Cab - 34.7 inches
Leg Room Crew Cab - 40.3 inches

Thats why I ended up with the truck I have, crew with the 6'4 bed. I can't stand the short short beds they put on the crew cabs normally.

Go with the crew. I have two one year olds and couldn't imagine fitting either of them into a quad. 6" of legroom doesn't sound like too much, but it is HUGE. I'm able to fit the two rearfacing carseats and a golden retriever very comfortably in the back.

I've had both and went with the crew for the reasons mentioned...if you stick with the quad you will regret it down the road...congrats on your son!

I went quad as the van is primary vehicle. If my kids were older, I could see crew being better choice. I wanted the 6ft4inch box so I went quad.
