Good Day,
Does anyone in here have a 2500, 6.4 without a limited slip/anti-spin rearend?
I'm considering a low milage 2022 Laramie, and the only negative l find, is the lack of the above mentioned rear end.
The one in my 1500 is great, and used often at home due to my driveway.
When i had my 06, 3500 CRD, it was the same.

Those without it, has it caused any issues for you?
Just looking for opinions.
TIA

My 2019 didn't have it. I never once missed it. There is traction control and 4wd if needed.

My new Cummins 2500 has 4WD…and, according to the build sheet, an open rear end.

It really puzzles me WHY anyone would think 4WD might be useful ..but not also LS.
However, I only need 4WD to pull a boat up a slippery ramp occasionally and everyone assures me that with 4WD a LS rear end is unnecessary. I’m not sure. So far …So good. :33:

I am very satisfied with the tru-trac I put in my truck , I’m only 2wd so it makes a huge difference.
Plus I like the double black streaks it will leave on the street .

My 1994 Ram 2500 with the V10 came without LSD as they ran out of units when the factory order I did was being built. On wet or icy roads it meant I had to have it in 4x4 all the time or the rear would break loose regularly. Any car I had with big power always had an LSD for the same reason. I sold the 94 as soon as the 96 was available and I made damn sure it had LSD when they built that order, with the club cab, but the 94 was a handful for the two years I drove it.

Our new pickups have traction control but that does NOT replace LSD if you are using it in mud, ice or deep snow. The traction control brakes the spinning wheel and reduces power to get rid of fishtale and tire spin, NOT what I want. In mud, or deep snow I actually turn traction control off by holding the off button down for ten seconds, (the first push of the button only partly turns it off, you have to hold it for full defeat) so I it doesn't cut power. Your pickup will shut off traction control in 4 Low for that reason. If you have no LSD you have one driven wheel front and one back.

So the answer would be, you can live without LSD depending on use, but anyone that builds a pickup, especially a 2 wheel drive, but even a 4 wheel drive, without it is not doing themselves any favours.

It's almost a necessity daily at home so as not to sling gravel at my neighbor's windows.

Thanks for all the opinio s folks.

I had one truck with the open rear years ago. The only time I really noticed it was pulling out from a stop (in 2WD) in the rain, especially if it was going slightly uphill. It would spin almost every time, even with fresh tires.

My truck has a very tight LSD, and there are some things that go along with that. This is especially so considering it's an HO diesel with a stick transmission. When power overcomes traction, it's more likely to cause the rear of the truck to shift sideways or even try to swap spaces with where the front of the truck was. If you're going at a good clip, oversteer WILL happen. Overall, I'm glad I have the LSD, but it requires a little bit more careful attention to how you use the skinny pedal.

Since you're looking at a gasser and a possibly(?) a canopy on the bed, your weight distribution is way better than mine. If I were in your shoes, I'd buy the truck if you like it otherwise & swap in a good LSD.
