So today I bought a 2014 ram 1500 with the hemi 5.7. The engine was replaced at 118k previous owner says a lifter went out and caused the bearings on the cam to become loose. Leading him to have a remanufactured 5.7L engine put in. The truck now only has slightly over 120k and it has a very light ticking sound on the passenger side which seems to be coming from under the valve cover . Now I didnt notice this ticking when I test drove it two days prior. And before anyone says engine wasn't replaced I do have documentation and have spoke to the shop that did the install. And the shop says the engine has a 3yr or 100k warranty. My question is how severe of a tick is considered somewhat normal? I've heard that all 5.7 have a tick but this engine is new ! Again it's not extremely loud I'm just picking it over . Any input on this matter is greatly appreciated .

The tick you’re hearing could be an exhaust leak. Does the tick go away when engine warms up? See if you can wiggle the heat shield on the manifold.

My last 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.7L
developed the passenger side Exhaust Leak did not take long to start Ticking.

The dealer had to remove the Exhaust Manifold, then installed brand new Bolts.

I don't know if they machined the Head's surface

Exhaust manifolds probably were reused , and installed warped.
Remove and belt sand or machine the sealing surfaces flat .

Remflex 6022 gaskets are the best and do not disappoint .
