Question about the newer, I guess, 2017 or 2018, and up power wagons…

When did they start putting the 2500 badge on the newer power wagons and why? Used to, way back in 2005 all the way up to at least 2015, all the power wagons just said power wagon on the side and they didn’t say 2500 anywhere on them which I would think is because a power wagon is not a real three-quarter ton, because of its limitations from its softer off-road suspension so again, why do the newer power wagons say 2500 on the side when, if it has the same softer suspension? I thought that was the whole point of why the power wagon used to never say 2500 on it because it’s not a real three-quarter ton but now the new badging has me confused… Lol.

I’ve been over this many times before you can use a PowerWagon just like any other three-quarter ton pick up. Yes, the suspension is softer, but on the real world, it doesn’t limit your towing at all.

If you go by the sticker you can only tow around 10,000 pounds but the reality is that everything is as strong or even stronger in PowerWagon vs the regular 2500.

So I don’t see any issue with it being labeled a 2500.

Being that a 2022 power wagon for example only has a max trailer towing capacity of about 10,500 pounds and a maximum available payload of about 1500 pounds which, is only about 200 more pounds on the trailer towing part and almost the same in payload than my half ton with the 5.7 hemi engine and the 3.92 differential gears, a real 2500 three-quarter ton however can pull around 14,000 pounds and has a payload capacity of 3000 to 4000 pounds, which is double or more than double than a power wagon so, sure doesn’t sound to me like the power wagon and a regular 2500 are in the same category. Still seems to me the power wagon is very limited because of its suspension.
