Do a search. 1.5 months is low by historical standards. But the new racks supposedly are 'improved' vs buying an older used one. So if price isn't a killer, it's probably worth waiting it out I guess.

Hope you get your truck back soon as possible :waytogo:

Sounds good, but ...Have others done it w/o much trouble? How would it play with the stability control, etc? And what about later trucks with driver aids? Will the PS pump just bolt into place? Would there be EPS and other error (failure) lights blinking all the time or can they be turned off? IDK the answers ...just asking. Seems like the trucks are designed around EPS.

But if it was a fairly easy swap-over on earlier tks, you wouldn't have to worry about expensive failures anymore.

Is there a write up on this? What parts does it use?

If there was an 'overseas' software that elimnated the EPS, for example where maybe Rams have hydraulic steering (Brazil or Saudi Arabia maybe??)). And maybe military usage? IDK.

I have a 2013 RAM 1500 Laramie and have been waiting for 4 months for an electric rack and pinion. At this point I am not sure if the dealer will ever be able to supply one. The ETA for the part has been changed at least 4 times. On top of that the two different individuals I had been working with on the issue have left the dealership. Today I called the dealer again today and am now working with a third person who I had to bring up to speed on the issue I was having. Very frustration to say the least. Is RAM not making these parts anymore?

If you don't make replacement parts for vehicles over 5 years old, then you have to buy new every few years. The new way to sell sub-standard vehicles.

It's just that so many are crapping out ...and it's a part few owners/mechanics have been able to successfully DIY back to health. There are a lot of highly machined precision parts in there, the motor, module, and plus the cast housing. Takes some effort to make. Demand has been high on these for years.

It would be nice if they just made replacement 'modules' available for them. Pop the cover off the rack, try the new module. Or relocate a new self-contained module close to the battery. That might bring a large percentage of them back to life w/o ever removing from the vehicle or replacing the whole over-priced assembly. Owners would be much happier to pay a $400 bill, than a $2,600 bill that shakes their faith in RAM as a line of tks they want to re-buy next time. Mechanics would be happy they fixed the problem faster. I think it's ludacrist they don't have a cheaper alternative. Don't make the stupid rack like that if you can't service it reasonably!!!! Who's designing these things???!

Eventually I suspect some company (probably a Chinese company) will start making replacement modules or a rebuild kit for these racks at some point in the future. They probably should have located the modules up on the fender somewhere out of the elements. You rarely ever hear of an airbag SRS module crapping out. That's b/c they're well-protected.
