So mine is leaking so looks like I need to replace, I also went to a shop to get it inspected because I noticed I was leaking and they said it needed replacement. When going online (rockauto) there are several to pick from. I was debating on the AC Delco one or the hydraulic one...what would be better or what do you recommend? Price difference between the two was nothing major.

I like ac delco stuff but that is me. Never had any problems with it on my chevy truck. Did you check the dealer price for a mopar unit?

Have not yet, going call them today or tomorrow (depending if I can during work) to see if they want all my arms and legs or just one arm.

I would also check with your local Auto Parts store. Sometimes with parts like the Rack N Pinion, the cost of the core makes it more costly than sourcing locally a remanufactured/rebuild unit.

Just a thought!

They are all hydraulic, as they receive assistance from pressured oil from a pump...

There are RAM based systems that work more like a hydraulic cylinder, but these are usually more for Heavy Duty Offroad where you run on much larger tires/wheels. However they are far less precise than the actual rack and pinion system.

In some cases I have also seen these hydraulic system used in parallel with the R n P, but again it is in cases where the truck runs on oversized shoes and the OEM system is underpowered to move them.

And just for clarification, by oversized I mean 37"+...

Oh ok, I was thrown off because rockauto showed some R and P's as a normal title and then a couple that said hydraulic so I thought it was different lol

From my experience I suggest staying away from reman units.. I have had to replace 2 of them within the last 15,000 miles, lucky for me they carry a 3yr. 36,000 mile warranty, but if this one goes I will be spending the $$$ to buy an oem one.. I found an article where a guy took apart the reman and a OEM to see what the difference was, the gist of the article was the seal material used, reman looked similar to RTV vs the OEM which was a thicker more solid rubber material.
