This is my first post. I have looked all over for answers but have found nothing. I bought my 2009 Ram 1500 TRX4 used in July with a factory 430 REN radio. About a month ago I started having problems with the volume dial. When trying to adjust volume using the dial it would only go up and down one or two notches at a time (i.e. 12,11,12,13,14,12, etc.). The steering wheel controls work fine. A week or so later the dial would no longer turn the unit off. Just last week it started halfway opening the deck and turning the unit off for a random amount of time (sometimes 5-10 minutes, 30 minutes, and longest being a day and a half). Has anyone else had similar experiences? I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to fix this or just replace the radio with a new one. I'm hoping that the problem is with the radio and not wiring. Also I took a picture of the screen when it opens up before turning off posted here if that helps.

First off - :welcome:. It's the head unit for sure, I've never seen a factory harness go bad and make it act like that, it's a radio glitch. A new (aftermarket) head unit is going to be the best route for your money, I know my REC-NAV is showing it's age some days and get's pretty temperamental.

Thanks. Pretty sure it was only the radio but just wanted to be sure. I did look into replacing with an aftermarket one but with the extra wiring needed to allow steering wheel controls, uconnect, backup cam to be compatible with it I thought it might be better to go with a plug and play 430 RBZ from oemautopartsco.com. Just don't want to replace the unit only to find out wiring is bad as well.
