hey guys i got my truck in june 2010 and here in canada we use alot of roadsalt in the winter....so i start noticing all there small orange rusty spot all over the sides of the truck.....some would rub off when washed but they would keep coming back..... :( so first oil change about 5K kms i mention it at the service dept...they say its nothing and maybe tree sap..... so a month later im back for the hvac software recall and mention it again....still nothing.....so i goggled it and discovered it was rail dust....small particles of metal from train wheels......claybar is the best fix....so i call the sales manager and inform him and he says bring it in and we will take care of it !!!! just wanted to let people know of this issue and its not just dodge any new car will have this and it is part of the dealer preparation on new vehicles!!!!!

So, the "rail dust" is deposited on the truck when the trucks are in transit by rail?

It's on 99.9% of vehicles on the road. Including the ones sitting at dealers with 0 miles on them. So it's not just a white thing lol. Just easier to see on them is all

mark is right! my 08 (white) was clayed 12 hours after I brought it home. White is the worst, cause you can SEE it. I saw some on my bro's yellow chally last weekend........hard to see, you can FEEL the grit though!

Take a plastic bag with you next time you're around a brand new vehicle and rub it over the paint. I'll just about guarantee it'll feel almost like sand paper
