A Challenger driving buddy of mine at work claims that when he pulls "FUSE #2" out for a bit and replaces it, his motor "wakes up".

Something about the PCM readjusting to his driving style. Claims he does it after every wash and that there's definitely a noticeable difference in performance.

Anyone ever heard of such a thing? If so, so the RAMs have a similar setup?

It's called unplugging your batterie for 30min to 2hr or touching the terminals together to remove any residual charge in the system.

Doesn't that also reset all of the settings in the EVIC, radio, etc?

A fuse would certainly be easier.

I believe all of those things have an internal memory that keep things saved.

The LX 'Fuse #2' resets the adaptives and is regularly pulled at the strip before runs. The ram doesn't have a similar fuse unfortunately. You need to pull a battery cable to clear the adaptives and any codes, doesn't have to be for 20min I've found, but it does reset everything.

Wouldn't a tuner negate the need to "reset"?

Hi All,

Just drive it like you stole it and you wont need to reset the adaptives.........just kidding.
If you race the thing then +1 to the tuner suggestion. If you just run it once in a great while then why worry about the absolute fastest e.t. since you still have a lot of untapped hp?

I'm not a racer by any means but if I pay for *** horsepower I expect to have *** horses at the ready.

Does a tuner essentially do the same thing as unplugging the battery?

No. The adaptives are developed over time as the computer learns your driving habits and begins to setup according to those. Unless you load in a new tune then the adaptives are still there, but I don't know too many people that load a new tune every time they pull into the strip. I always did when I loaded my nitrous tune in, but most people don't.

I have no idea what you're talking about. As stated above, unless you load a new tune the adaptives are still there. You don't have 'untapped' hp, you have a computer that's learned over time a different fuel mapping to meet your driving style; for example, when you come off the line at a light do you floor it everytime and take it 100mph? Of course not, the computer's learned the rate that you normally leave and over time has adjusted the output to give you very regular experiences of this. When you go to the track the computer is still expecting your normal habits (it doesn't know you're at the track) and will still apply the same throttle response which isn't the best. Resetting the adaptives erases these learned situations and resets to the base fuel tables.

I'm not a racer by any means but if I pay for *** horsepower I expect to have *** horses at the ready.

No it doesn't for the reasons stated above. Still reset the adaptives or load a new tune when you get to the track or are planning a race.

So would installing a master switch for the battery be easier than having to remove the battery cable. Just flip a switch to reset?

Maybe not a "master switch" as much as an inline circuit breaker.

I have unplugged mine numerous times (as long as overnight) when installing mods, etc, and it has NEVER reset my radio favorites.

Just get a Trinity and reset the TCM every so often and you should be good.

What about the other settings, like the EVIC display's layout?

I understand what you're saying.

But Sean has already set my 91oct tune @ 20% throttle increase.

Are you saying that the computer will readjust to my driving and actually cancel out the %20?

The Throttle response setting (aka Throttle Booster) is in the Diablo quick adjust menu,
it takes a few seconds, just like changing a tire size.

...and no, adaptives are not the same and not resettable in a 4G Ram through a Diablosport tuner

Just get a Trinity and reset the TCM every so often and you should be good.

Not on a 4G Hemi Ram, see above

Big stink went down on NADODGE about this, latest crom for the Trinity was supposed to allow a reset,
after further investigation, turned out to be a big misunderstanding.

I drive my truck daily just like I do at the track, full out WOT
especially on the last couple days leading up to Friday Night street legals.

:pepper:

throttle booster and all my shift points maxed the eff out

I never re-load a fresh tune, used to years ago but it made no difference.
Only thing I do is quick adjust my tires size for the smaller drag radials.

adaptives are typically stored driving habits of your last 10 key cycles into memory
(as explained to me by a friend and Chrysler master tech)

The computer makes me sad. Haha

I drive like an absolute grandma 98% of the time. And the other 2% when I put pedal to floor it doesn't want to drop a gear and rip **** up. Just fast smooth acceleration.... Booo need a tuner so I can go from gas saver to full on chubby with a button.
