I just looked mine up. Only showing the pinion nut that was already completed. So I'm clear from this mess? Anyone's VIN showing these new issues yet?
Which cars are in the buyback program?
The buyback program applies to the following vehicles:
2009-2012 Ram 1500 pickup trucks built from Feb. 27, 2008, through June 30, 2009, and Dec. 1, 2009, through Oct. 20, 2011. These were recalled in 2013 for rear suspension problems.
2009-2011 Dodge Dakota pickups built from Feb. 27, 2007, through June 30, 2009, and Dec. 1, 2009, through Sept. 30, 2011. These were recalled in 2013 for rear suspension problems.
2009 Dodge Durango SUVs built from Jan. 3. 2008, through Dec. 18, 2008. These were recalled in 2013 for rear suspension problems.
2009 Chrysler Aspen SUVs built from Jan. 3, 2008, to Dec. 18, 2008. These were recalled in 2013 for rear suspension problems.
2008-2012 Ram 4500 and 5500 heavy-duty trucks built from Feb. 20, 2007, through Dec. 22, 2012. These were recalled in 2013 for problems with the steering system.
2008-2012 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups with four-wheel drive, recalled in 2013 for problems with the steering system.
2008-2012 Ram 3500 chassis-cab pickups with rear-wheel drive, recalled in 2013 for problems with the steering system.
2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Mega Cab pickups with four-wheel drive, recalled in 2013 for problems with the steering system.
You can usually find the build date by month on a sticker around the driver's doorjamb. FCA has 60 days to notify owners of the buyback offer, NHTSA says.
How much will I get for my car?
According to NHTSA, the buyback program requires FCA to give a refund of the purchase price minus depreciation plus an additional 10 percent.
What if I modified my vehicle? Will the modifications be refunded in the buyback program?
Not unless they were on the car when it was new. Any modifications made after the vehicle's retail sale won't be calculated into the purchase price, according to NHTSA.
FWIW, I had a 2012 PW that wandered and had the sloppiest steering Ive ever experienced, I loved the truck and had extended warranty so i had it in th edealer at leas a half dozen times to diagnose. They completely replaced every single component on that truck that had anything to do with steering. The issue never improved, at all. I then ended up trading for the 2015 2500 outdoorsman i now have and its like a night and day difference obviously.
I just wanted to add my two cents, if your not having steering control issues id say your safe, but from wha ti experienced with my PW there was certainly some sort of design issue somewhere in that thing that made it drive like a sketchbag on the HWY, especially in snowy conditions it made for white knuckle driving.
Source?
Because according to your info, all 2010 would be in the 1500 category. As stated, my truck had the pinion nut recall and was done over a year ago. That's according to the RAM recall website. No other recall shows for my truck.

Dealer wouldn't warranty my R&P because of miles 76k at the time [emoji22]
But another mechanic told me it needed replaced. When I put it on a lift and shook it down everything seems tight so idk but yea on the highway hitting a bump while turning in any kinda in climate weather is sketchy as hell and I live in Alaska so there is an abundance of ****** roads and weather

sounds exactly like what i experienced, summer time was bearable but winter conditions were just all around gut wrenching on the hwy.
same issue with my PW, wed lift it at the dealer and absolutley everything was tight, but managed to get them to replace part after part trying to find the cause. at one point they even tried to blame the good year duratrac's it had on it. lol.
the only component i narrowed the possible cause down to was the steering gear ( steering box?) the tech always referred to it as the gear, anyways my brother in law was a journeyman chrysler tech for 5 years and told me the steerign boxes were such a hit or miss part, built like old war tank technology, and because they didnt make new ones the U/S ones were sent back to be overhauled and then brought back into the system as "new" parts. this is what he blamed since inherently there was alot of slop internal to them and no two were ever the same. Maybe he was on to something, I have no idea, but i had it replaced twice and didnt fix the issue.
I can only conclude that i suffered, and you as well, the steering issue they are referring to with this massive recall, I live in northern Alberta, like you, almost 8-9 months of the year are poor driving conditions, I simply couldnt deal with the squirrelyness of it anymore and how badly it drained me attention wise when travelling.
I have a 1500 Mega 2x4 - as far as I can tell, they are identical to the 2500 Mega...But the 1500 Mega is recall is only listed for the 4x4 - I guess the 2x4's are not effected?
Right now - its a bit confusing.
I've had to replace my tie rod ends and shocks at 90k - the tie rods ends were shot.

This could go on forever lol.
