Another website indicated that the terms of the settlement have not been announced yet, so maybe they have no entered the VINs...???

I wonder what years are affected.

I just saw another news article stating the same thing, but no info on years affected yet. I knew about the uconnect recall, but I hadn't heard about the steering. Theres also a post on here about airbags being faulty, deploying when the door is slammed. I'll be interested to see how they determine value on their buyback system.

Seems like all of the big 3 have had recalls this year. But not buybacks I don't guess.

Isn't a vehicle buyback almost unheard of? Are they going to low ball everyone? I don't know about anyone else but I don't feel like haggling price and payment all over again.. Its exhausting....:flipthebird::shocked:

Another good question would be if your year is part of the buyback and you choose to go that route, do you have to buy another Ram product? Seems like this could be real bad for Chrysler if you can just sell them your truck and go buy a GM or Ford. They'd lose quite a bit of money there, and surely this will impact future sales for a little while.

Very interesting for sure.

As far as the buyback, I'm almost sure it would only be for another truck...they would lose out too much money if they just let people drop their keys off and walk out with cash.

I'm going to wait and see....we don't know what models, what year and what kind of safety issues....they said steering issues, but from being on this forum for the last 3 years, I haven't seen that issue. Most of the issues I have seen are upper control arm issues when adding spacers, some minor paint quality issues, windshield fluid problem. I'm guessing the models in question is the 2013+ with the newer center console, and electronic steering.

Since the first posting of this I saw on social media, all I've seen is GM supporters blasting FCA for this - with no confirmed deaths, while their GM vehicles have caused deaths due to a recall that was put off for nearly a decade...

If it is a forced buyback (article said repair was an option, but previous repairs were unsuccessful or something along those lines, as the wording contradicts itself), this might give me a leg up on a 2015 Sport...

Seems mainly because NHTSA has a new head honcho with something to prove and he wants to make an example out of FCA, due to NHTSA's reputation of being too lax - which GM profited from for the longest time..

This might give me the push I need to get a Durango R/T or a mega cab. Curious to see what years this involves.

To be honest, I have a 2012 and I have no issues with my Truck whatsoever, but this specific issue is in regards to a steering recall, but I haven't heard of it.

I test drove a 2015 Jeep Cherokee before I bought the RAM and it had a bizarre "wobble" when accelerating. I checked the forums and many owners were complaining, most of whom had taken it back in and it wasn't fixed after the 3rd or 4th attempt.

I read a article that stated some models and years I don't know how reliable the source is.

Models included in the buyback offer are certain Ram 1500s from 2009 to 2012; the Ram 1500 Mega Cab 4 by 4 from 2008; and the Ram 2500 4 by 4, 3500 4 by 4, 4500 4 by 4, and 5500 4 by 4, all from 2008 through 2012. Also part of the offer are 2009 Chrysler Aspen and Dodge Durango SUVs and the Dodge Dakota pickup from 2009 through 2011.

I have a 2009. I'm wondering what models and when I'm gonna be notified about it. I really don't think they are going to let you walk out with the cash. They will make you use it towards one there cars.

This article states the years that 14hemiexpress mentioned. Darn, my 2014 won't be a part. Like others mentioned, I was already thinking how this could play in my favor if I had to trade in. Oh well.
