Got together with a few guys last night in "Mexico" and I have a friend who showed up with his SRT-4 neon. Mods are straight pipe, intake, STS and DSP canned 93 tune. He's been saying he's going to wax the truck and I told him the truck may surprise him!

So we follow other cars to a remote location and on the way there we decided to play a little. My mods are S&B, CC, 24" Magnaflow and custom tune. We did a quick burst from 45-100 and that little car moves out! Unfortunate for him he was only out front by maybe a car. Front of my truck was right on his ass. He was slowly pulling but NOT by much. Previous weekend he went to the track and went 13.84@103mph. So on my stock 33" Goodyears, I do say that I was doing well. He was so impressed that he had to tell everyone that I stuck with him and that these trucks are no joke! Lol good times :)

Are you leaving the truck in drive?

I had bought one new in 05, actually miss that car and wish I kept it for a project vehicle. Had some minor stuff done, Mopar Stage 1 tune, intake, coilovers, HD sway bars, loud ass straigh pipe exhaust.

Back when 230hp stock was up there.

(Had to dig deep into my photobucket account to find this.)

I had a 2005 with quite a few bolt ons and did 13.16 with a sky high DA, they are quick little cars and sound great.

I'm not really into the performance 4 bangers, though there are some quick ones no doubt. I loves me some v8 power (and sound)! That said, I've seen some quick lil srt-4's as well. Still, if your damn near 3 ton truck is hanging with a modded one, that's pretty solid IMHO.

My friend Dom was impressed. Like I said he doesn't have a lot done to it and neither do I but he was surprised as was I!

I say this in all honesty, whenever one was next to me or in a close proximity I swore they sounded like a farm tractor. I do not mean to be a **** but to my hearing well that's what I heard. Some really fast ones out there in the day no doubt.:favorites13:

I agree, it's common for people to say it sounds like a Deere. Much like any exhaust system, it's all in opinion :)

I dunno. I had a tunned Focus ST not too long ago. Coming from a ram to that.. There's noooo way a ram could have beat that car, even stock. Passengers would feel it in their gut when I hit the gas..

I lost to a srt4 but not the mazdaspeed3... I can find pics tomorrow if there's any doubt.

But if your truck was hanging with a srt4.. Something was wrong with the car/driver.

IMO

Nothing wrong with either, I know the car and driver well. He drives the car just fine. They are not fast stock and even with his basic 93 canned tune, it didn't make the car lightning fast. He needs a custom tune to really wake up the car.

They really need a big turbo swap to do the highway pulls. My buddy had one with the 60 trim, drag radials, progressive boost controller, water/**** and he would embarrass a lot of people in that thing. 425+hp/tq in a car that barely weighed 3000lbs. I wanted a simple AGP 50 kit but ended up trading the car in for a truck and bike.

I have never owned a 4cyl car, I am old enough luckily to be on the side of "no replacement for displacement" If the 4 cyl should happen to run faster I still win as I prefer the sound of Led Zepplin to Justin Beiber. See what I am saying.

Ride around in a few decent turbo cars or high Revving cars and you might have a little different opinion. I've had my share of high revving 4 bangers and can say there's something to trying to snag 2nd before you bang the rev limiter, or the fact that you can beat the snot out of it and it just begs for more. Turbo cars you get instant torque, once the turbo's get moving. It's a weird feeling when a little 3.0 BMW puts down more torque at 2200-5000 RPM than my 5.7 V8 does.

Its an awesome feeling lol.. But it still doesn't compare to the 400+hp v8 sport cars. They are even better.. But for a daily driver, I miss the 4banging turbo. Had a lot of fun modding and doing dumb **** in that car... But I found myself back in a Ram shortly after.. I have to have a truck.

The stereotypes are usually spot on, and I didn't fit it.

IMO
